what causes insomnia

There are many factors which can cause insomnia, including;

  • Certain medicines & drugs
  • Stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol.
  • Chronic pain
  • Anxiety
  • Stress (work/personal)
  • Depression
  • Poor sleep hygiene (e.g. checking emails before bed, use of screens)

Insomnia or the inability to fall asleep is often a result of the busy and stressful lives we lead. However it is important that we get a sufficient amount of sleep in order to be able to recover from a busy day, which is essential for both our physical and mental well being.
